Hmmm... Many show John Titus (b. 1787) as son of John Titus and his FIRST wife, Elizabeth Beadle (Beagle). However, most sources agree that she died some time before 1783, so that is likely incorrect. There are also sources showing John (Sr) m. 2nd to another Elizabeth, perhaps Durland, or similar. If so, she would have been John's (b. 1787) mother. Either way, the Dykeman connection in that particular family group, would be non-biological, in that Jonathan Titus, son of John (Sr) and his first wife (Beadle), married as his 2ND wife, Joanna (nee Springer) Dykeman, the widow of Jacob.
Coming forward in time a generation, there were a few of Jonathan's children that married DYKEMANs. His son, Charles, married Elizabeth Dykeman, his son, William, m. Phoebe Dykeman, His daughter, Martha, m. 3rd to Joshua C. Dykeman. And, his son, Benjamin, m. Dorcas Ann Dykeman, daughter of Jacob and Joanna (Springer) Dykeman (same woman who married 2nd to Jonathan Titus (see above).
If I figure that right, they were step-brother/sister???
So, there are surely DYKEMAN/TITUS connections, as would be expected in the Queens County area! Given the size of these families, and my own line's interaction with both, I'd have been surprised if there WASN'T some sort of connection!
