The book states "William Hurley came from Waterford County in Ireland and was a Private of Royal Fencible Americans in the Revolution and settled in the St. George area of New Brunswick. In 1797 he was given a land grant for 163 acres near St. George on the LeTang (place and county - Saint Geoege and Pennfield, Charlotte County).

William was married twice, once to Nancy ______ who died in 1784 and second to Ann _____ who died in 1804. There were eight children and FOUR married Chaffeys of Island."

The four children who married Chaffey's were: 1) Susan (Thomas Dollard Chaffey); 2) William Jr. (Martha (Patty) Chaffey); 3) Mary (James Chaffey II); and 4) Elizabeth (James Edward Chaffey III).
