I am descended from John Wilson Omar, Patrick and Ellen Wilson Omar's first child is my great great grandfather.I believe he was married twice: first to Hattie J. UNKNOWN [ "John ' M.' Omar" is listed in the 1880 US Census of Maine, age 26 living in Topsfield, Maine with wife " Hattie J.", age 19. Looking at the orignal it is clear the "M" is a "W" misread by the transcriber and the age would corespond with JWO's birthdate of 7 SEP 1854. Also Topsfield is about 15 or 20 miles from JWO birth place Oak Hill N. B.]. On 22 Nov 1887, he married Cora Leland Brigham in Boston, MA. On the marriage certificate he declares his residence as Bangor and that this is his second marriage. He also gives his parents' names as "Patrick" and "Ellen". He was a carpenter by occupation. Cora was born in Amherst, ME, 22 NOV 1864, d. 30 JUL 1944, Concord, MA, the daughter of Charles L. Brigham [ son of Lewis Walker Brigham annd Cynthia Aveline Swallow] and Amanda Goodwin [daughter of Jonathan Tracy Goodwin and Susan Bradby Silsby]. Charles, a Civil War veteran, and Amanda were divorced in 1865 and Cora was raised by her maternal grandparents and often appears as "Cora Goodwin"
They had four children: 1. Ethel Goodwin Omar, b. 10 SEP 1889, Wakefield, MA, d. 25 MAY 1936, Springfield, MA, m. 8 SEP 1913 in Putney VT, Frank Eugene Page; [children: i. Tracy Omar Page, b. 5 JUL 1915, d. 15 JUN 1997 in Hobe Sound, FL; ii. Helen Page, m. unknown Spencer]; 2. Tracy Wilson Omar, b. 15 JUN 1891, Wakefield, MA, d. 19 JAN 1947, m. 21 SEP 1910 in Charlestown, MA, Helena Mitchell, b. 7 JAN 1888, Charlottetown, PEI, Canada; d. 6 NOV 1956. 3. Roy U. Omar, b. 21 SEP 1892, Everett, MA, d. 8 MAR 1894, Everett, MA; 4. Percy Silsby Omar, 21 MAR 1895, Everett, MA, d. at sea while in US Navy, unmarried [family rumor has it he changed his name to Patrick O'Mara or O'Malley while in the Navy].
My grandparents, Tracy Wilson and Helena Mitchell Omar had 6 children: 1. Mary Cora Omar, b. 16 DEC 1911, Charlestown, MA, m. Lawrence Quinn; 2.Anne Ellen Omar, b. 16 OCT 1913 , Dorchester, MA, m. John Curley; 3. Lena Mitchell Omar, joined the Sisters of Notre Dame; 4. Tracy Wilson Omar, Jr., m.1st Mary 2nd Julia T. O'Grady; 5. Rita Elizabeth Omar, b. 27 JAN 1919, Dorchester, MA, m. Harold Collins; 6. Francis Joseph Omar, m. Florence Rose Martin [my father and mother].
