My father's family settled in Armstrong in the Okanagan, coming from the Toronto area, and lived there from about 1900 to 1904 only. They also lived in Revelstoke. Robert James and Jemima (Jennie) Burgar build a house in the village of Armstrong. When our family travelled west in the 1960's my father took a side trip to Armstrong and found the house that his family had built there because of a peculiar lock that his father designed for the gate that was still intact. In one of these villages their house suffered a fire and was rebuilt. That may have been in Revelstoke. Does anyone know of a house with such a lock on the gate in Armstrong? I know there were people who corresponded with my aunt until her death. Does anyone remember the children, Gertie, Will or Bill (my father) and Cecil, the youngest, born 1899, all in Ontario? Is there any reference to the Burgar family in the historical records of the village? I'm not sure of Robert's occupation at that time but he had been an industrial engineer and he later operated a logging sawmill north on the Ottawa River.
