I am looking for any and all information on my great-grandparents, Stephen Ledvak & Juliana Saksa (Saxa) from Austro-Hungary. They emigrated to Bridgeport CT, where they married at St. Joseph's Church in 1887 or 1888 by a Fr. Jarieus. Marriage records said they were from Hungary. Stephen became a naturalized citizen in Bridgeport CT on October 27, 1890 and stated he was from Austria. Still no exact city to connect my great-grandparents to. They had eight children, seven of which were born in Bridgeport CT. The eighth one, my grandmother Margaret Ledvak McGuire was born in Scranton PA on August 7, 1911. The other seven children were named: Helen, Frances, Stephen, Emanuel (Emil), Julia, Martha & Irene.
Juliana (Saksa or Saxa) Ledvak had a younger sister, Mary, who married a Mr. Bartek and settled in Wallingford CT. Juliana's & Mary's parents were George & ? Saksa (Saxa).
It appears that Stephen had a brother named Andrew. I located his marriage record at the same time as I located my great-grandparents record. Andrew married a Catherina Weresfri (this last name is questionable, as there is no "W" in the Hungarian, Czech & Slovak alphabet) and were also married in 1887 or 1888 at St. Joseph's Church by Fr. Jarieus.
In Scranton PA, my great-grandparents were members of the Holy Family Church in Scranton. My great-grandfather helped build that church. He was a piano-maker & cabinet-maker by trade.
My great-grandfather Stephen died on January 18, 1932 in Scranton. My great-grandmother Juliana died in September 1960 in Scranton, also. She was buried in the Holy Family Cemetery, Throop.
Does this connect with anyone? Thanks.
