Yes the family was Roman Catholic. His tombstone has the same month and day as the death certificate but the birth year is 1880 which is consistent with his ages on U.S. census records.
I have pawed through familysearch to see if I could find a transcription of a baptism record or records that might be connected to this Mitch family to no avail thus far. I liked the old familysearch system better as now one gets too many items back. This Anton Mitch's daughter Teresa Mitch was born about 1900 in Hungary so I have searched for her baptism and immigration records also. [Teresa Mitch b. @ 1900 was a daughter of Anton's 1st wife and I don't know the first wife's name. She may have died in Hungary. He remarries in @1907 according to census record. The second wife was a Mary Mika. I don't have any idea about her family's origins within Hungary. I assume they marry in the U.S. since both of them have immigration years before 1907.
There were a couple Teresa (forename variants) Mitches on a familysearch search but none matching the general birth time frame of 1900 + or - a year...thereabouts. Sometimes, when I give it a rest and then go back and look I find something I missed so I'll keep looking. This is the first time I've done any digging for Hungarian ancestors. It is quite challenging for the uninitiated. I'm glad I posted my questions. Thank you so much for helping.
