Here is what another family researcher has told me (unfortunately it is all that I know so far):

Peter Christopher PETERSEN was born before 1780 in the southern part of Denmark. He married Anna KNUTH (or KUTNOOSEN). Their son Marcus Adolph PETERSEN was born 15 November, 1801, Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany and died 29 March 1867 in Flensburg, Germany.

According to a translation, Marcus Adolph PETERSEN contracted Catharine CHRISTIANSEN who was at that time married to a fisherman, to have his child as he had no heirs. He owned a brandy brewery. After she had Emandus Marcus they were married. She may have had a son, Hans HANSEN, before she met and married Marcus. Hans HANSEN went America at about age 17 to escape the German Conscription.

It wasn't long after Catherine's husband's death and their son, Emandus Marcus went to America, that she sold their fashionable home, and their profitable brewery, and with her two growing daughters headed for America. Although she was considered a lady of wealth there, she did not get the best price for her estate when she sold it. On the trip to America, she became acquainted with a man on board the ship who was going to America to open a music store. They fell in love and were married after they reached the states. He opened his music store in Louisville, Kentucky.

Emandus Marcus PETERSEN was born in Germany, but was of Danish decent (born at the border of Germany and Denmark). After the death of his father he decided to go to America. His inheritance from his father's estate was a considerable sum in Germany. When he arrived in Liverpool, England, he found that someone had stolen practically all of his clothing, and all of his money. Instead of going back home, he was forced to find whatever work was available in England. After a while he had enough money to go to America, but barely enough for traveling expenses. He eventually headed west and help build telegraph lines for a few years. Besides this work, he was a stone mason, farmer and a carpenter. He married a Martha SCHULTZ and lived in Martinville, Indiana. Had at least 5 children: Marie Elizabeth ("Honey"), Frank, Ernest, Adolf and Paul Christopher.

Although the name HANSEN appears in the above narrative, I don't yet know the connection. Hope you enjoyed the story, though.
