You should be able to locate the actual record by visiting your local Family History Center and asking them to help you to order the film covering the time period you need for two parishes. Yes, there are two villages named Pustohl, and each are affiliated with a different protestant parish in the former duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. One is Berendshagen and the other Rühn. The film are of the actual parish records, and they of course will be written in German, but with time and patience and some research helps at your side, most people can find at least some of what they are looking for. Should you not be up for the challenge, but are still interested in getting at the information, you can contact me off board at unfoldinglineages@prodigy.net for assistance or visit my website.

Also, if this individual born in 1832 left Germany after 1850 and sailed out of the port of Hamburg, you might also be able to find out his place of residence just prior to leaving the old country. Hamburg passenger lists and written indexes are available on microfilm at the FHC, but are now also available on Ancestry.com

Good luck with your research.
