Unlocking secret grandfather from Germany to Illinois

Classification: Query
Surnames: Keller, Lamb, Crow
NAME: C.L. or L.C. Keller is my 3rd great grandfather. His name listed in 1860 Census is C.L. Keller.
-On his son William Keller's death certificate Dekoven KY, info given by Louisa Crow (William's sister and C.L. or L.C.'s daughter) from Cave in Rock, listed "name of father: Louis C Keller" "Birthplace of Father: Germany"
-On his daughter Louisa Lamb Crow, or "Lou Crow" on her death certificate, it lists William T. Crow (her son) as the informant and "Father 13. Name Criss Keller" "14. Birthplace Germany"
So I am unsure as to what his name really is and not even sure Keller is the name that really came with him from Prussia/Germany.

BIRTH: around 1819 in Prussia/Germany (per 1860 Census, I haven't located any records of his arriving in the u.s.)

ONLY LISTING I HAVE FOUND: The first he showed up (that I can find) is the 26 Jun 1860 Census in Hardin, township 11 Range 8, listed as age 41, Farmer, $500 real estate, $200 personal estate, born in Prussia, also listed Sara M. (Sara Minerva Lamb, my 3rd great grandmother) age 32, Mary S age 8, William P age 6, Riley age 4, and Louisa J age 6 months old (my 2nd great grandmother, she went on to marry Albert Jackson Crow).

DEATH: He doesn't show up on the 1870 census. I thought Sara Minerva Lamb crow also didn't show up. I was wrong though as she got remarried to Paul Amman Lavanne from Belgium (both buried in Hobbs Cemetery and I have a copy of her death certificate). Find it very "odd" she married a man from Prussia/Germany and then her 2nd husband from Belgium and both in Hardin County. I don't know how or when C.L or L.C. dies. Cannot find info on him in the Civil War. Help!

I have applied to get a copy of his death record from Elizabethtown but they said the fire destroyed records. I cannot find him in Fold3 or Ancestry.com...I am at a loss. Thank you for any help!
