Hi,
Ellen was born 7 Feb 1838 and died 21 Aug 1910 in Salem, MA, She did appear in the 1910 US census, she was living in the home of her daughter Mary, and son in law Thomas Hamilton.

It was her daughter Mary who was the informant on Ellen's death certificate. I figured she probably didn't know exactly where, and/or was probably told by Ellen herself that she was born in Nova Scotia.

Am I right in assuming that the letter about her being born in Germany is more accurate?
