My great grandfather, Max NITSCH, came to the U.S. as a 7 year old stowaway about 1882. He claimed his parents were August NITSCH and Johanna KELLER of Pommern, GE.
Am interested in finding my KELLER and NITSCH roots and figure out why Max stowed away. Was he an orphan maybe? What other reasons could there be? What was society like in the 1880s in Pommern?
