Oh thank you so much for looking! The area sounds plausible as some of the family claims they are from Poland - Kashubs to be exact. If my online reasearch is accurate Kashubia is also near Gdansk. I have my gggrandmother's death certificate from Chicago, 1929. Her daughter filled out the information (hopefully a good daughter!). My gggrandmother's name was Augusta Fleming. born August 5th, 1852 in Ramel. Her parents are listed as John Fleming and Veronica Knezel also from there. She married Frank Schemikowski overseas I think as there children are listed in census and elsewhere as from Germany. In 1888 Augusta married Anton Dorsch at St Josaphat's in Chicago. Her daughter, Elizabeth, married Frank Paluch in 1894, Chicago at St Joseph's. He died in 1903 and Elizabeth married Julius Dettloff in 1917. Other names I find connections to are Mudloff, Jakicic.
