I am trying to identify and DOCUMENT the original German name that evolved into the American "FINICAL". Samuel E. Finical was born 1797 in PA. Some researchers believe that this surname comes from FENCHEL in Ostelsheim Germany, Baden. [on the edge of the Black Forest, not too far from Stutgart.] Others insist the name may come from Fingle/Fingel. MANY Many spelling variations found in US on family documents...including Finickle, Finicle, etc. Have seen each of the vowels changed, and the "N" and "L" are sometimes double, vs. single letters. My line migrated from PA to KY to IN to MN. ANY leads on surname would be appreciated. Darlene C. Joyce
