Thank you, Robert...my brain gears are really spinning now...here's my issue; maybe you can shed some light:

The location I am looking for is Creutz-Steinach or Greutz-Steinach. It was described as a birthplace in the mid 1700s. Most sources say it's Upper Palatinate but others say only Pfalz. I'm finding more cities with Steinach in their name in the Lower Palatinate than I am in the Upper. Until recently my search has been in the Upper, but now I wonder...

The closest I've found so far is Heiligkreuzsteinach, which is just north of Heidelberg.

Does any of this ring a bell to you?
