I have been searching for Gibbs Ancestors also from SC!
Where in SC did your Gibbs live?
Mine were in Marion, and Georgeown Counties not too far from Charleston, SC.

I have gone as far back as 1824 with Captain Cannon Gibbs.
He was said to have come from NC before the early 1820s.
I have found nothing to prove this so I am still searching.
He is buried at Willow Creek Baptist Church in Florence County, SC. This was once a part of Marion County.
According to family and on his tombstone he was born in 1805 in NC. He died in 1857. I have a lot on his children but nothing on who his parents or siblings were!
He was a land owner who had married a widow of John Eaton Hyman from Halifax County, NC.
