The following is an extract from my book "Murray Families of Sutherland": ... John Sutherland and Elizabeth Forbes's second son James Sutherland, (1680-c1724) married Jean Gordon, daughter of Alexander Gordon of Gartie and Kilgour. John and Elizabeth's eldest daughter Katherine married William Baillie of Rosehall in 1736. They had an only daughter Elizabeth Baillie, born 1748. She married James Sutherland of Uppat in 1768, the illegitimate son of the William, Earl of Sutherland, who died in 1750. Elizabeth and James had two sons: George Sackville Sutherland and Robert Sutherland. Robert married Janetta Murray. Janetta is the daughter of Lt. Col Robert MacGregor Murray and Barbara Mackenzie (widow of Kenneth Murchison). Janetta married Robert who was by then of St Vincent, West Indies, on 7th September 1818 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Robert is known to have had illegitimate children in St Vincent but does not appear to have had children with Janetta. He died in Hastings, West Indies, in 1828. Janetta then married a William Hull.
