Hi
I have noted the correspondence about the Ross families from Kilmuir, and would like to ask if anyone has come across my Ross family in their research.
I am looking for any information on a Donald Ross born ca. 1785, who was referenced as being married to Elspat Munro, and as a mason, from "Calruichy" [Wester Calrichie], in his son Hector Ross's baptism record on 22 January 1819, parish of Kilmuir Easter, Ross and Cromarty, Scotland.
His son Hector, from "Kilmuir Easter", married a Christina Ross [born ca. 1820, daughter of a William Ross, who had been "residing at Hill of Creich, Garbay"] in the parish church at Kilmuir-Easter on 3rd July 1848. Hector and Christina Ross migrated with their two surviving young children John and Catherine to Australia in 1856. I have found what appears to be their 1851 Scottish Census record, where Hector was a farmer with five acres at "Kindraw" [which I have not been able to locate on a map], Ross and Cromarty, born at "Kilmuir, Ross", and Christina being born at "Kincardine, Ross". I haven't been able to find baptism record for the two children (John born ca 1849 and Christina ca. January 1851) on the Scotlands People website.
Kind regards
Helen
