I have just had another look at the information I have on Mary Hamilton, and while there does appear to be a link to my great grandmother Mary McGimpsey, she cannot be her mother.
According to my great grandmother's marriage certificate to John Hillhouse in 1895, she was 19 at that time, therefore born around 1876, making it impossible for Mary Hamilton from Wishaw to be her mother.

I need to do a bit more detective work. If anyone out there can help me with info relating to this branch of the family, I would very much appreciate it.
