I am rather confused, as I had thought that I had found my great, great grandmother in Mary Hamilton who died in 1939 in Wishaw, but now am not so sure.

My great grandmother was Mary McGimpsey who married John Hillhouse in 1895. Her marriage certificate says that her father was David McJimpsey and mother was Mary Hamilton.

They had 11 children that I am aware of, possibly 12, of which 7 survived as adults, including my grandmother Jeanie Crawford Hillhouse. Two of the other children were given the middle name Ward, therefore I am sure they are part of the family which is mentioned in these messages.

I was surprised by Anne saying that there were no Davids in the family as this was definitely my great, great grandfathers name, and my great grandparents named 2 of their sons David;(one died an hour after his birth and a later son was given the same name). I guess what is meant, is that there are none in the Hamilton side of the family.

Does anyone know where my great grandparents fit into this family, and do I have the correct Mary Hamilton?

Any clarification would be helpful.

I have no pictures of any of my great grandparents or their predecessors, but know that my great grandmother was very small, and her hair came down to her waist.
