Hi, I recently had a look through the census regarding Daniel, Mary's son. His name, as you know, was often referred to as Silicose. I looked for similar names in the area for the 1901 and 1911 census and found the following for Silcock. It is possible that Walter, in 1901 was Daniel's father, given the info later available in the 1911 census.

In 1901 the following family are at Overjohnston, McConnell's Buildings, Wishaw - they are the only Silcocks in the area.
Walter Silcock H 37 Steel Work Buffer b England
Rachel W 36 "
Hannah R D 16 Dalziel
Joseph S 12 Scholar "
Walter S 9 " "

Daniel is born in 1903 and shows up with Silcocks in 1911:
14b Watson Street, Motherwell
Daniel McDonald H 28
Annie W 26 married 6 years 2 of 3 kids
alive (Hannah in 1901 census)
Daniel S 3
Rachel Rowley " D 1
Joseph Silcock Bro in law 22
Walter " 19
Daniel " 7

These Silcocks were the only ones in the area and no other surname like it appears. Looks like it could be the right family! I will look for Walter Silcock the next time I'm at the genealogy and also determine whether wife Rachel was alive at the time of Daniel's birth!!
Cheers
Lynne
