I am pleased to announce the launch of the Inverness transcription of the 1841 census. This is part of the larger UK Free Census project (aka FreeCEN) that aims to transcribe ALL the UK 19th century census returns to create an online 'free-to-view' database.

Volunteers are needed to transcribe the census records from CD. You'll just need some time and a computer with CD reader. This is a global on-line project for ordinary family historians and is a great opportunity to learn more about your ancestry.
