The transcription of the 1841 census records is almost complete and many of the records are now available to search at http://www.freecen.org.uk/

Volunteer transcribers are needed for the FreeCEN Project which aims to make census information freely available to all. You'll need a computer with a CD reader, I will supply the CD and any support you need. This is a great way to learn more about Banffshire.
