I'm a little late on this conversation.
A GGgrandmother of mine was Mary Ann Finlay born abt 1829. She married John Wilson of Mungoduff/Muckduff near Kiltegan. Her father Germaine/German Finlay. They were married Donaghmore, Wicklow 15 May 1852. Fairly certain her parents German Finlay (1804-1875) and Jane Bollard (abt 1806-1894) of Donard, Wicklow - although not proven.
Others seem to have researched this Finaly family elsewhere. His parents possibly a Richard Finlay (1769-?) and Mary. Richards parents Thomas Finlay (1740-1798) and Anne Smith. They then take family back to Thomas Finlay born 1652 Dundee, Scotland, and died 1728 Coolmoney, Wicklow. Finlay ancestry apparently links to Kings of Scotland.
A granddaughter of John and Mary Ann, Louisa Jane Tutty (1890-1938) married Thomas Finlay (1874-1934), the son of another German Finlay and Ruth Brien. Thomas was a younger brother of your Jane Finlay. Not sure of ancestry of German and Ruth though.
John and Mary Ann Wilson had 11 known children, all married. Some went to US, England, Scotland, NZ and Australia.
