Surnames: McElwain, Johnston
Although I am researching Johnston/Johnstone I have an interest in the McElwain name. On the 1901 Moneymore census, my great-grandmother was listed as a spinster with 4 children. Also living in the same house was a John McElwain, listed as a boarder who worked as a tailor. Because my grandmother, Edith Johnston, went by the name: Edith McElwain Johnston, I have always wondered if John McElwain was really her father. If anyone has info on John McElwain I would appreciate it. If someone thinks they are related to him, I will copy the census page I have and happily send it to them. Good luck with the reunion.
