Hello David,
For some reason this site sent me a message saying I had a Reply, I guess because it was my original thread that started this chain, anyway, I hope Debbie has gotten back to you. I did want to add in case you haven't heard from her yet, that we did find out her Moody line goes back to the Alexander MUDIE (that was the original spelling of our last name at some point in time), whose daughter Margaret MUDIE was baptized at Ballykelly Presbyterian Church in Co. L'derry, Nor. Ireland. Alexander MUDIE was listed as being "of Malogin" but we now know it was some odd spelling of Magilligan. Also from this same church baptism records was an Edward MUDIE (same spelling) whose son Joseph MUDIE was baptized in Aug. 1706. I feel quite certain this Edward was a brother or a definite relation to Debbie's husband's Alexander MUDIE/Moody. Edward was also listed as being from Magilligan.
Another baptism of interest since you apparently are related to her line in Australia is that of a Robert SHANON (Shannon) whose daugh. Margaret SHANON was baptized there in 1701. They were of Magilligan too. The fact that they were all in the same church, from the same township in Nor. Ireland and were still intermarrying some years later is a pretty solid piece of evidence that we are talking about the same families here.
We do now have the Ydna Proof we hoped for and Debbie's husband's line from Fifeshire, Scotland to Lenamore/Magilligan, Co. L'derry, Nor. Ireland to Australia are linked to my Father and we also have about 8 others who are all matching Ydna as well.
Another of our earliest known Ydna matching lines is that of a Thomas MOODY b.c1710 in/of Aghadowey, Co. L'derry, Nor. Ireland who married 1st to Jean McQUISTON (McCuiston) daug. of Benjamin. They came to New Castle, PA/DE in abt. Aug. 1735 and settled in PA for a time and then removed to Guilford Co., NC and spread out across the U.S. from there.
You mentioned you had a photo of your David MOODY with the Independent Country Party taken in 1898.
Would this be in any way related to...I think his name was John Maylestom MUDIE? (or something like that?)
I found a picture of him online one time.
Thanks for your reply and we have found a lot of info regarding your line now. We also have a link to the Rev. James MOODY (Moodie as its found spelled in the oldest records), whose line intermarried with an Anne WATSON who goes back to the WATSON's in which your family branch married into back in Ireland etc.
There's more, but that's just one other tid bit.
We have also posted a Ton of info to the Moody board at GenForum, please check that out as well.
Take care and hope to hear back from you, thanks for the info you shared.
