Thank you so much for replying to my query.
Michael Ward and his wife Ellen maiden name Hefferon where the parents of my grand mother whose name was Mary Ellen Ward. She married my Grandfather George Gilbert Norman in BOSTON, USA. in 1895.
I have my grandmothers birth cert confirming the spelling, stating that she was born Mary Ellen Hefferon in Newcastle, Gallway, Ireland in 1870. Mother Ellen and father Michael.

I have not been able to find a census return in the UK that includes Mary Ellen for 1871,1881, or 1891. but I have found census details for her father Michael in 1871 in Birkenhead, England lodging alone. Also in Birkenhead in 1881 with family inc. wife Ellen, and daughters Catherine b. 1869. Adela b. 1873, Christana b.1877, and Margaret b. 1879 in Gallway, Ireland. also son John b, 1874 in Gallway, Ireland, Michael died in 1887 in Birkenhead. Ellen was again recorded in the 1891 census for Birkenhead with just three children Catherine, John and Margaret. My grandfather and Grandmother both emigrated to Boston , USA in 1895 where they married confirmed, and returned to England in 1900 when it is said her mother Ellen was very ill. Ellen died in 1901 in Birkenhead. Both grandparents were recorded in 1901 living in Birkenhead with their family.

I have visited Gallway and found that the records have been removed from the church in St Nicholas but spoke to a member of the Gallway West FHS who could not help and I have looked on line for records for Michael and Ellen to no avail.

I thank you very much for the information you have included in your post and will seek to follow up on that.
