Hi Frank,
Thank you so much for posting your lineage! I'm confident your grandmother, Maud had a close relationship with her sister Sarah, my great-grandmother because Sarah named one of her daughters after Maud.
It's good to see the other surnames leading up to our current family too. Also, I didn't realize other Hagan descendants had settled in Los Angeles too.
I am aware of the family plot in Greenwood, but did not know about James being buried elsewhere. My great-uncle John V. Sadler, Jr. "JV" took us to the Greenwood plot one summer when we were visiting.
This morning I did a search and learned Emily Ford's thesis is posted online and available for download. It is very extensive and interesting. I downloaded it at the following website:
http://tigerprints.clemson.edu/do/search/?q=author_lname%3A%... Emily's picture of James' tomb is on page 73. It is quite large and impressive.
I have a question for you about Jane and John. Our family oral history is that he was a widower with two children and met her on a train; which departed from New York. We've been told she was on her way to join a convent, but never made it there because she married John instead. Did your family ever hear this story?
We could not figure out why he would be on a train from New York. However, after looking through Emily's thesis, I am wondering if he went there on business to purchase stone from a quarry.
