I was wondering if anyone in their research on Francis Fox (born ca. 1606) and the Fox family/families around Farley in Wiltshire has found any link to the Fox family that began with a Richard Fox (born ca. 1680) and Mary Wiltshire who married at Mottisfont in Hampshire in 1712 (only about 15 km from Farley in Wiltshire), who were supposed to have come from East Dean which is about half way between these two villages.
Both descendants of Francis Fox's family, and the Foxes from Mottisfont, have claimed kinship to the family of Sir Stephen Fox (1627-1716) of Farley (and his grandson Sir Charles James Fox British Statesman), but I think if there is a link for either of them it is higher up Sir Stephen Fox's family tree.
For anyone who might be interested, there is a Fox Family DNA Project which has descendants of the Francis Fox you are reearching involved, which is trying to establish any link to the Sir Stephen Fox line, and also to see if there is a link to the Vaux family dating back to Norman times. The web address is
http://www.familytreedna.com/public/FoxDNA/default.aspx?sect...Does anyone have a copy of the will of Henry Fox, Gentleman, Salisbury, dated 1663 [Administration bond, inventory per Wiltshire and Swindon Archive Catalogue - Wills Search) to see if it mentions Francis Fox?
Regards
Helen
