I believe I have found it. I came across some maps on old-mapsuk.co.uk ranging from 1880 to 1938. Lane End was on what is now the B6010 Nottingham Road, just below Newthorpe Common at the crossroads of Portland Road and Pinfold Street. On the 1938 map it is clear there was a yard at the end of the road with about 10 dwellings in it.
