Hi, I know it was a long time ago, you asked about an ancestor of yours, Wiliam Ratcliffe, from Gosberton. You mention a clock with an inscription. This rang a bell with me. I live in Gosberton and am very interested in village history.A few weeks ago, I borrowed a book from Boston library about Gosberton. This book was over a hundred years old, I was surprised that I was able to take it home! I clearly remember reading about a military group, formed of village men. The next time I go to the library, I will try to borrow it again. If you are still interested, email me direct on mw64@hotmail.co.uk
