I don't know if this is of any interest, but I am related to the Marshalls in Birkdale/North Meols.
My GGG grandmother was Ellen Marshall, we think born in 1891 to James Marshall & Jane Rymer. I believe she may have had an illigitimate child, James, in 1810 (the name being the same as who we think is her father helps to pursuade me that the child belonged to our Ellen).
Ellen married Thomas Hodge in 1816. Amongst their children was Henry (1836) who went on to me mayor of Southport for 3 weeks until his sudden death in 1893. Henry's twin brother, Edward is my line.
I have a photograph of Ellen Marshall with Tom Hodge, taken later in life (they both died 1869-70 and are buried in Scarisbrick).
Tom & Ellen lived at the Liverpool Rd end of Alma Rd, Birkdale where Tom was a farm labourer (possibly working for a brother, but unconfirmed). On the day of their marriage Tom planted an Elm tree on the farm. In 1839 they moved to their own farm on Heathy Lane, Halsall, which remained in the family for another 4 generations (ending with a James in the 1920's).
