Hello again Stephen,

Just reading the census form again, we must remember that the 1911 census forms were the first to be completed by the people if the could read and write. It appears that Louis Smith as head of the household and signature to the census form was born St. George, Whitechapel. If you could obtain the birth certificate for this person, then it should have some details of the parents, names, addresses, etc. This may help you trace your relative as it may have his Russian name. He had obviously become a resident as the form states.

One thing to remember is that many countries such as Poland where my family came from, did end up becoming part of Russia and Germany at one stage during the wars and border changes through the uyprising years. Borders for this countries changed increasingly and cause much confusion. My family ended up in Latvia and Russia but did come from Poland.

Good luck,
