Linda, My condolences on the loss of your mother. It must be difficult for you. I will keep in touch with you if I find anything on the Sugino name. What were the newspapers that had the article on your mother? I might try to look it up on the internet. I know all this searching is frustrating. One of my mother's relatives was one of the 47 Ronin (Samurai) and there is a monument depicting him and the other warriors at Sengakuji Temple in Tokyo. Her friend visited the Temple and sent us photos. The hard part is tracing the family in between and trying to find a book on the 47 Ronin that will actually list the names. (There are plays and movies based on the 47 Ronin, but of course they changed the names, except for the leaders.) My mother only had one brother and he passed away a couple of years ago. His wife just passed away last month. My mother only has two nephews left in Japan. She has no idea about her uncle and his possible family. I will keep in touch. Best of luck! Debbie Southern
