Linda, thank you for your response. My mother was born in Kyushu, Japan in 1928. Her parents owned a bath house. Due to health problems, her father sold the bath house and they moved to Gogoshima when she was in the second grade. Her father, Kunitaro Sugino (1868-1989) had one brother, Yasu-inchiro. My mother does not know much about him or his family. This is part of my search. I showed my mother your inquiry with the names of your family. I'm sorry to say that nothing sounded familar. There still may be a connection somewhere in the past. I hope to eventually get copies of the family history from Japan. I have a partial list of ancestor names back to 1515, but not all the information is there. I will contact you if I find anything.
