Simon Autry (Awtrey) had a daughter, Mary "Polly" who married Thomas Bankston about 1784, probably in Georgia.
Thomas was under Capt. John Autry [I need to check my records] during the Revolutionary War.
Thomas Bankston sold land (1/6th of 300 acres on waters of Fishing Creek, Wilkes County, GA that he [his wife] inherited, which was land surveyed for Simon Autry, the father-in-law of Thomas Bankston). So there were five other heirs of Simon Autry, but I do not have their names, yet.
Thomas Bankston and Polly Autry had at least nine children, one of whom was Spencer Runnels (S. R.) Bankston, who was administrator of Thomas' estate in 1949 in Clarke County, Mississippi.
While it has been claimed that Simon Autry (Awtrey) died during Battle of Kings Mt., I have not found anything to support that assertion. That he might have been involved either before or afterwards is much more llikely.
I appreciate your information. Perhaps we can be of mutual assistance in our research.
