Okay, now I'm at home, with my files in front of me. I can clearly identify "Jacob Sour" on the first page of the America's manifest. On the last page is a "Mrs. Mary A. Smith., My guess is that this is actually Mary A. Sauer. I also have a selection about Jacob Duback from an article entitled "Obituaries & stories for burials in the Old City Cemetery". It states that "Jacob and Dorothea were among those picked up by the Three Bells."
So it seems the family was in fact split up.
Dorothea Sauer, 14, arrived in NY from Germany on 13 Jun 1853, on the Carolus Magnus.
