For what it is worth . There are two Alexander Grant , one a sergeant the other probably a private , both probably KRRNY , who received land and are listed on McNiff's Map 1786. The private soldier Alexander Grant shares Lot 27 1st Concession [or Front] of Glengarry County, Township of Lancaster with a William Grant ; and they share same Lot 27 in the 2nd Con [that means these lots butted each other] . Their names were abbreviated on this McNiff's Map 1786 , as they are Alex. and Wm.Grant on the 1st , and just A. and W. Grant on the 2nd . This William is probably a close relation to Alexander .
