My great grandfather was Sergeant 44770 George Nolan Cooper (1860-1919), who served between 1879 and his death (mainly in Co Cork).

He was the son of Head Constable 2880 George Cooper (1817-1891) who was born in Co Wicklow and served between 1837 and 1868 (in Co Wexford until 1861 and then in Co Kilkenny).

Several other members of the Cooper family also served in the RIC.

I should be most interested to hear from anyone with further information about any of the above.
