Hi, I live in Robeson Twp not far from the mill. I believe Geiger's first mill was a log structure and the current one is the second mill on the site. The date on the monument is consistent with the time he arrived in Berks County. Very few stone structures were built as first bldgs due to expense. He likely did the log mill and then making enough money decided to replace it with the one we now see as the log structure would have been in decay. A mill that size (the Geiger Mill is small and is a grist mill) would have taken about a year to build start to finish. My research on the Livezey Mill in Germantown showed it took between 1 to 2 yrs to build and it was a much larger merchant mill that exported flour all over the then world. Are you Betty's daughter? She briefly let me inside where I quickly photographed some things but would love to do a detailed photographic documentation of the interior for preserving this for the Tri-County Historical Society and my own research. Herb
