Thanks for the info. I received this from a branch of the Grant's living in Missouri who has been checking LDS film:

"I don't know if there was a land mixup involving our Alexander, but I have a petition (dated 19 Mar 1815) filed by Richard Grant in 1815 that states (on the back) "In the U E list there are four Alexander Grants of Charlottenburgh. Of which the W 1/2 of Lot No. 24 1 conc. of Charl. not being in the name of Alex Grant but of Duncan McArthur". Then I found another petition in 1818 for Richard Grant, but never found the grant naming the lot/conc. I don't know if the land was not registered to Alexander in 1807 or it was reg. to Sgt McArthur in error. Was it resolved by 1829 when Alexander willed W1/2 of Lot 24, 1st conc, Charl. to Richard. A mystery. Undoubtedly, I am missing a lot of info"

As far as his death, all I have is his will in 1829 and a newspaper in Quebec stating: "on 23 June 1829: At Charlottenburg, U.C. on 9th ult., aged 72 Alexander Grant, a native of Inverness-shire, and brother to the late John Grant, of Lachine."

For Sarah Claridge, I have her born in 1764 (I don't know where) and living in Lancaster, Ont. in 1789 when thier first child is born.

Then according to Church Records, they were in St Andrew's Williamstown Parish for the remainder of thier children (the first one at St. Andrews we 1791). I don't have any more on her, not even a death date/year.

However, if Alexander was living in Tyron County prior to the war, then its possible that she was from New York then moved to Ont after the war.
