It has been a while since I have been on this board. Recently I ordered the Surrogate court records from Ontario. I have found the following information on Reel number 1259.

The Peter Grant that was a shoemaker born in approximately 1795 was married to Jenet Ross. They had no children. That Peter Grant died in 1841. His will also named his sister Flora Grant, another sister, Isabella Farrell, and a brother John Grant.

Isabella Farrell had two daughters Eleanor (Nellie) and Marion.

Gregor McGregor of Charlottenburgh, Murdoch Ross (Wheelwright), and John McLennan, Esquire were named executors of the estate, but the will was not probated until 1882 when Jenet (Peter's wife) died. At that time, these people were deceased,so Alexander Grant, the oldest son of Flora Grant was the administrator of the estate. The will and probate records go on to give more information. . .
Flora Grant had the following children: Peter Grant, Flora Grant McArthur, Mary Grant Ferguson, Alexander Grant, Margaret Grant McGregor, and Duncan Grant.

Margaret Grant McGregor had three daughters, Elizabeth Craig, Anna Craig, and Flora Chisholm.

The will also mentions that Peter had a cousin Alexander Ferguson.

I am looking for a Peter Grant with a son namesd James Wright Grant. In this probate file, it mentions that Peter Grant and James W. Grant were sureities. It also mentions Peter Grant and son. Both Peter and James W. Grant signed several documents.

If Flora Grant was Peter Grant's (the shoemaker)sister then Flora must have married a Grant to have sons named Grant. (We would assume). Do you know of a Flora Grant that married another Grant. Do you think that I am on the right track here?

Also, I found the probate records of Allen Grant. He was married to Mary and also a shoemaker.
