Pam, Thank you for the information. Have you ever seen a copy of "The Pyatt Family of Western North Carolina?" I think some of Benjamin's descendents are listed there. If you want to continue our conversations by email, my address is: LeChatDeLA@aol.com.

Tina,

That's not much to go on. Can you get any help from your aunt or uncle? How about your grandfather? Or even your mother? What are their dates of birth? Or yours? I have a book that has the lineages of 2 of the sons of a Joseph Pyatt, from whom I am descended. He had 8 children. But this book only goes to births around 1900. One of the Pyatt(e) researchers that I met a couple of years ago gave me an extended family tree that traces the lineage, and it's a pretty thorough one, of one of Joseph's granchildren, Leander. But without more info, unless your line happens to be mentioned in either of those two places, I am afraid I can't help you. You mention the mountains of NC. I am not that familiar with NC. Are you aware that there is a Pyatte, NC? There are a lot of Pyatt(e)s in Nebo, McDowell and Marion Counties. Are they in "the mountains"?

Pam

I notice that your Joseph Leander Pyatt was brother of Benjamin. Do you have any further info on Benjamin as I am trying to trace my Gt, Gt, Gt, Gt Grandfather, also Benjamin Pyatt of England and wonder if there is any connection.
It would be great to hear from you.

Hi there, I wonder, did the Pyatt's that you mention come from the country of Cheshire in England?

I remember that the Patriarch, Joseph Pyatt, did come from England, but I do not remember where in England. Since the Pyatt's are not of my line, I really do not research them, though I have helped when I come across the name while looking for my Smiths.
If you look at the post by Pam Pyatt, Mariruth, Nadine, they should be able to help you more.
Good Luck
PS You should check the Pyatt message board at www,genforum.com. It seems to be large that Ancestry's board.
