I don't think that synching is absolutely necessary. As long as ancestry.com knows what to do with a .ftm (or .ftmb) file. As far as I know, it doesn't -- only GEDCOM

Yeah, its a PITA to enter the info in two places. I feel the FTM is a better data base entry point, but then all of your information doesn't get into the community for networking.
