Classification: Query
Surnames: LAYTON, SAYTON, CARMAC, HALL
My ancestor, Thomas Layton's info per his application for pension for service in PA Milita and Army. Thomas Layton was born 11 May 1765 in Morristown, Morris County, NJ. Thomas mentioned his father but not by name. Mother wasn't mentioned. No wife or childrens names were mentioned, only who and where he served. He atated he was an "Indian Spy". Thomas Layton joined Militia service in Northumberland County, PA at age 14, (1779). In his PA records his name is in the "S" for Sayton because the writer's at that time made their "L" to look like the S. He left PA and was in Tioga NY in the 1800 & 1810 census. There was also a William Layton in the area. Thomas and family left NY and went to Clark Co, Illinois where he died about 1842. I think he had close to 10 children, not sure how many.

Thinking Thomas Layton's father might be a William or Thomas.

I am interested in anyone who may know more on this ancestry, Thomas Layton.
