Wow, this has been really some time ago :-)
Well, thanks for mailing. Actually t h e Wassenich book has never been published although I published a booklet with stories from the family's history. It helds two stories: one about a bar prawl bawl in 1756 (Johann Josef W., the owner of "The Lamb", was your Wendel's great-grandfather), the other about Nikolaus Wassenich who emigrated and sailed onboard of a whaler around the world. But the booklet is completely in German (and most probably will never be translated in English). Nikolaus born 1832 was 1st cousin once removed to Wendel born 1808.
Another story has been published as part of the history of a road in downtown St. Wendel about another Johann Wassenich who got divorced from his wife and try to shoot her - but our local beer was to strong for him so he "just" hurt her arm. He was arrested and comitted suicide in jail some time later. Your Wendel was that Johann's 1st cousin once removed.
You've a very interesting family. :-)
Yours
Roland Geiger, St. Wendel, Germany
