Joanne, I realize your maiden name is of no importance(but there are times it is.) I learned this while working 10 years at the National Archives in Washington. Your circle of friends are the only ones that know your married name is Rich. I was going to send you a private email, but considered against it, because when people read this on the board, they might be able to (as I) connect with something in there search. Now that I know the surname is Rich, I can go to three Kuykendall cousins here in the Crawford, Sebastain, Logan and Washington Counties, who are alot older than me. Its a shame you waited 5 months to respond to my July 4th, message, because Cousin Nora Kirkendoll McFadden Gentry, 101 years old just died. Her mind was intack and knew alot. My cousins and I now can search thru Dr George Benson Kuykendalls book of the Kuykendall Family published, 1919 and see if we can find the K. family you are researching. I feel that matters are only private in the 4 walls of your home. But 30, 40 years later these may resurface. as it did in my immediate family. When I was 50 years old I learned my grandfather,Wiiiiam didn't fall into a water well and die, he killed himself with a pistol (this on his death certificate.) He was the grandson of James(Jim) and Mary Frances Strawn Kuykendall. In the same year I learned that my mother on Feb 10th 1940, petioned the courts for a divorce from my father, charge: cruelty. (I was 5 years old.) On July 28th, 1940, he married my stepmother. On October 2nd, he went to prison for cattle rustlering. On Feb 14th, 1941, mother dies and then along with a 3 year old brother, we go to live in the MS Baptist Church Orphanage, me until June, 1953. so, my father was a bigamist. Here in the Ft Smith area there are 5 different sets of Kuykendalls. One set is 4 African-American, who are decendents of my gg Uncle Peter and negro slaves. He died in 1888 at Alma, AR.. This was James(Jim's) brother, who died in 1907. Another set which is the largest belongs to my ggg Uncle Abraham's son, Cornelius, who married 7 times. and had alot of children and the living decendents in the area have their own (little clicks) and hardly know their half-siblings until one divorced his wife of 45 years and married the wife's neice of 25 years junior. In the 1st marriage of Cornelius and Sarah Ward they had a son, Curtis, who was sold by Cornelius to a Creek Indian??? Cornelius and Anglia Casteel had a son named James Harve, who spelled his name Kirkendall and today there is about 200 of his decendents, who spell their name Kirkendall. Another set belongs to John Lamb Kuykendall, whoms son, James Wyse Kuykendall was the Super of Ft Smith Schools, 1905-1915. Anything else?
