Thank you for your help! The only information that I have for Peter is that he was married to Ellen Wright in 1830. I sent for a copy of the Marriage Bond. It was so light you couldn't read it. (They didn't even charge for it.) You could read the outside which listed Peter Grant and Ellen Wright and the date. Their children are named Ellen, Margaret, John Wright, Catherine, Alexander, James Wright, Duncan, Peter, and Jane(In that order). They seem to come from Summerstown. (James Wright married Adelaide M. Summers and Jane married Andrew Summers.) The 1851 census shows Ellen living in a frame house. Most of her neighbors are in log homes. Ellen was a widow at that time. These are my only clues at this time. I guess I need to do a little more research to find out more about his birth etc. I only just now found a book that lists the inter-library loan film numbers for the Estate and Surrogate Court Documents. Glengarry is Reel GS1-1274. I will order this and see what I can find. In the meantime, perhaps I can get the Land Grants and Petitions for Glengarry book that you referred to. This Grant Thread has been an enormous help to me!
