I have a great big book on Cherokee County. It cost me over $100. If you tell me who or what you are looking for I can tell you if they/it are in there before you spend that kind of money.
Let me know,

The Bradley's are listed on pages 34, 73-75, 105, 126, 128, 193, 220, 221, 242-243, 258, 309.
The Book is called The Heritage of Cherokee Countyy, Alabama. ISBN# 1-891647-10-5 (800) 568-1611

I didn't see anything for the people you mentioned but I didn't go through the whole book. The people who stood out were Eugene H. Bradley and Francis Marian Bradley families. The index only gives the last name and what pages they are on.

Thank you so much for the offer. Here's what I have: Wm H. and Ann Mathis with his children that were still at home were living in Rng 10, Twnshp 10 of Cherokee County, AL during the 1880 census. From his Bible I know that he died 9 Jan 1897 but I have no idea if he died in Cherokee County, AL, or if he was living in Floyd county, GA at the time of his death. I'm really trying to find out where he is buried. We have found where his first wife Susan Rebecca Russell Mathis had her obit listed in the Southern Christian Advocacy for 13 Jan 1875 although it gives a ton of good info it doesn't tell where they were living at the time of her death or where she is buried. Any info you might find on either of these people I'd really be appreciative.

Sorry for the confusion. If I have a specific request I don't mind and enjoy doing limited look-ups, but a general request is too time consuming for the time I have to devote. A time frame helps, as well as some of the information the researcher already has, so that I don't spin my wheels trying to find something already known.

If I had an unreasonable request, please pardon. In my Cherokee County, Texas History book everything is alphabetized and all I have to do is open the book to the correct page accordingly. I did not think about the generality of it when I asked about a specific family name. I appreciate your explanation. Martha

Thank you so much,

The Heritage of Cherokee County has one article on Ewing plus 3 references in Index; an article on Green plus 19 references in Index. Nothing on Bloodworth.

Cemetery records don't show any burial information for James or Nely Bloodworth, some Ewing information and some Green information.

If you have contacted John Awbrey, you already have any other information I could provide.

The Heritage of Cherokee County is available here at the Library; by mail $65, payable to Cherokee County Public Library, mailed to my attention at 310 Mary Street, Centre, AL 35960

I noted in our file that someone from Oklahoma had contacted John Awbrey about the Ewing family and thought it might have been you. I can give you census information, cemetery information and we have a file on the settlement of the estate of W. E. Ewing.

If you need any of that information, please e-mail me direct at publiclib@powernet.org and I can give you cost information, etc.

I am not researching Ewing in Cherokee Co., I am researching the Caddell, Tidmore, Looper, Hawkins, Kelly, Edwards and Phillips from Cherokee Co. They left for TX about 1878.

I draw a blank with my Hawkins-Kelly that married in Calhoun Co., AL in 1850. Both born in SC in 1826. Don't know their parents.

Would love some help there. They were in Cherokee Co., in 1860.

Hi Jill
It has been several years since your message was posted. I am interested in seeing if there is any Moons in your book on Cherokee CoALL. Looking for the name of Joseph or Joe and Eliza Moon. Also there was a Willie C Moon that married a Elisha Garrison Garrett. Had a son names Noah Cleveland Garrett. He was born 1892. Willie was a sister to Joseph Moon. I believe Joe and Eliza to be in Cherokee Co around 1900 or so. In the area of Cedar Bluff. I would appreciate hearing from you. Contact me direct at lindsaybnc@bellsouth.net
