If I may impose on some kind soul for assistance!
My great grand father was Cornelius Guerin. A kind soul on line found the following info on microfiche in Dublin:
Cornelius Guerin born Kerry Appointed to the RIC 13 Jun 1881 age 20? height 5'9"(age difficult to read) discharged 15 Jun 1881 Note says unfit by surgeon but no date Reappointed 31 Aug 1881
Transfers Galway ER (indistinct)8 Jan 1882
Waterford 7 Mar 1885
Dismissed 2 Apr 1889
Here is more info on Cornelius. He was born in Duagh, Kerry in 1860. While he was in the RIC for all of 2 years, he married my great grandmother, Lizzie Mitchell, in Caltra, Co Galway in 1883, and had my grandmother in May of 1884. So, I don't think the RIC knew about this marriage. Also, by Feb of 1889 Con and his wife, Lizzie, had already immigrated to the U.S. (without my grandmother - just the two of them)...so, I'm thinking he left before he was discharged. I think he broke a few rules!!
another kind soul (so many helpful people on the internet) gave me this service number #47261.
I would so appreciate any other info anyone could unearth for me!
Kind regards,
Kate (nee Guerin)
