Lemuel Burtis Mathews shows up in my family history. Here's a write up from a history book that I borrowed from my grandma.
Burt Mathews Family

Dad was born Lemuel Burtis Mathews Nov. 9, 1880 in Leesville, Indiana, USA. He was three years of age when the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, USA. Dad came to the Birch Hills district in 1906, where he married our Mother, Mary Elizabeth Clarke. Mom was born Jan.17, 1890, at Brancepath, Sask. There were eight children in our family.
In 1924 we all moved to Nelson, BC. Ten years later Mom and Dad moved to Trail, BC where they had a boarding house for five years. In 1939 they moved to a little place outside of Trail called Beaver Falls where Dad passed away Oct. 29, 1953. Three years later Mom moved to Vernon, BC where she passed away May 24, 1974.
Mary (Molly) is the oldest child. She married William Timms. They had family of six, four daughters and two sons. Their youngest son, Larry, passed away in Edmonton in 1967. They have retired in Pentiction, BC. Sam married Marjorie Mead and they have two daughters. Marj passed away in the later 1970's. Sam lives in Merrit, BC. I, Maud, married Bert Bennett. We have two sons and two daughters. We now live in Spokane, Washington. Beatrice married William Fisher. They have one daugther and they live in Vernon, BC. The twins were Tom and Burt. Tom never married. He passed away in 1976 at Vancouver, BC. Burt married Peggy Wright and they live at Sechelt, BC. Lawrence was killed overseas in 1942. Margaret married Les Frame. They live in Edmonton and they have one daughter.
